Next Day Delivery Service

Probably the most significant improvement we’ve made during lockdown is to our delivery service. It’s clearly very important for a customer to have the comfort and security of knowing where an order is at any point from the moment the order is placed.

With that in mind we spent time researching the best and most appropriate service available and where delighted to come across DPD Local whose distinctive vans you will no doubt be familiar with. Right from the start we were very impressed with the prompt service from their sales representative and also subsequently from their IT team to help implement the technology.

Going Live!

We went live, albeit manually, on Thursday 14th May and by Friday we were getting messages from customers about how delighted they were to receive their goods so promptly and on a timed delivery slot. Incidentally this also allows for the customer to make amendments, on the day of delivery, as to how and when the parcel will be delivered or where it is left. We switched to a fully automated process on Friday 15th May and all went very smoothly.

The service is very simple, its currently a flat fee of £5 for all orders up to 5kg (that’s a lot of fudge!) and guarantees next working day delivery providing that the order is received before 9 am. Examples being; order before 9:00 am Monday goods received on Tuesday, order before 9am Friday goods received Monday.

This guaranteed next day service applies to all of mainland United Kingdom (England, Wales, Scotland excluding Highlands and Islands). For the parts of the United Kingdom currently not covered by this service (eg Northern Ireland, Isle of Wight, etc) we will continue to use First Class Royal Mail (the same £5 fee will apply) this will not be a tracked service, normally parcels are received within 2 working days. For orders over 5kg alternative couriers may be used.

Customer Feedback

Already we and our customers are very impressed by this service as it gives excellent value for money and the assurance of a timed delivery slot. However, already we have identified ways in which we can offer improved functionality for our customers and give greater choice and flexibility around their deliveries and will work more on this throughout the coming weeks and months.
